MASTERCLASSES

Research Masterclass: From thought bubble to publication

May 6 & 7, 2019

This two-day program will start with a broad understanding of the principles and practice of clinical research. However, more importantly, it will connect you with a network of expert mentors and research support services to progress your research to publication, regardless of it’s current stage.

The program is open to all health professionals involved in clinical research in the emergency care setting. It will address the challenges particular to emergency care research and provide you with the skills you need to launch or strengthen your academic career.

Whist crucial theory is discussed, the focus is on interactive workshops to design and develop your own research idea(s), plan your project, analyse your results and writeup to ensure your research results in publication.

Trauma Masterclass: Gutsy decision-making under pressure

May 8 & 9, 2019

This program provides senior clinicians with a structured and dynamic approach to multi-trauma reception and resuscitation. The course goes beyond a standard ATLS/EMST recipe for trauma reception and resuscitation, and focuses on the nuances and controversies of trauma management.

The content is based on best-practice evidence derived from the Victorian State Trauma System; one of the most highly regarded trauma systems in the world.  Faculty are from The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre which is the busiest trauma centre in Australasia.

The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre is at the forefront of trauma education and is well known for their cadaveric Procedures Course, Trauma Resuscitation Workshop and Trauma Skills Course, all of which have been delivered nationally and internationally.

Management Masterclass: Emergency Department Management

May 6 - 9, 2019

Often without formal recognition, doctors manage teams, lead service improvements, provide staff development opportunities and contribute to the day-to-day management of their departments.

From very early in their careers doctors have a significant impact on the quality and safety of patient care, on patient experience, staff morale, and on the effectiveness of the working environment

This course equips participants with a practical toolkit to progress from great clinician to great clinical leader. It also provides an environment to practice leadership techniques and to benefit from the experience of international colleagues.

Over the four days, participants take part in personal reflections, lectures, group tasks,  case studies and other activities to enable their development as well-rounded, well-networked clinical leaders.
